Tinnerman Insurance Agency, Inc. is a family-owned, fourth-generation, independent insurance agency. We are located in Centerville, OH and have been serving the greater Dayton area since our founding in Dayton, OH in 1945. As a local, independent agency, we don’t work for the insurance company, instead, we work for you. We specialize in getting to know our clients so that we can provide insurance programs customized to your individual needs and your budget.

Agency History
Our Founder: Robert “Bob” Tinnerman
Born and raised in Dayton, a Roosevelt High School graduate, and an Otterbein College graduate, Bob Tinnerman founded the agency in 1945 upon exiting the Army after serving his country in the Pacific during World War II. Bob began the agency from “scratch” so to speak, initially working out of his North Dayton home and working with many other returning war veterans to get the agency started. Bob believed in working hard and in playing hard.
Over the years, he built the agency into a full-service personal and commercial lines agency, and, in the late 1940s, moved the agency into a downtown Dayton office space at 711 S. Main Street. Bob retired from the insurance agency business in 1981 after 36 years in the business.
Bob passed away in 1990 at the age of 76. Bob was married to his college sweetheart, Wanda, for 51 years. Bob and Wanda had four children.
Our Second-Generation Owner: Dave Tinnerman
Bob’s son, Dave, joined the growing agency in 1966 after graduating from Franklin High School in 1960, serving two years in the Army, and attending Otterbein College. Dave trained under Bob and helped facilitate the agency’s growth in the mid-1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
Dave became agency owner in 1981 with Bob’s retirement, and, in 1982, moved the agency to Centerville. In 1991, Dave moved the agency to the current location of 5 Iron Gate Park Drive in Centerville, OH.
Dave retired from the agency in 2001 after 35 years in the insurance agency business. Dave resides with his wife, Cathy, in Washington Township.
Our Third-Generation Owner: Ron Tinnerman
Dave’s son and Bob’s grandson, Ron Tinnerman, is now the current owner of Tinnerman Insurance Agency, Inc. He joined the agency in 1990 after graduating from Centerville High School in 1986 and Miami University in 1990. Ron trained under Dave and helped facilitate the agency’s growth in the 1990s and 2000s.
Ron became the owner of the agency in 2001 with Dave’s retirement and today serves as agency president. In 1995, Ron earned and still currently holds the Certified Insurance Counselor professional designation. Ron is also a part of the Noon Optimist Club of Centerville and the South Dayton chapter of AMBUCS (American Business Clubs).
Ron resides in Centerville with his high school sweetheart and wife of over 20 years, Jill. Ron and Jill have two sons.
